This piece portrays the world as insane expressionist theatre, moving through facades and performances. The harlequin death figure represents fate, the fishman-melancholy, both shadow companions to the dark muse whose wings are concealed beneath a heavy dark shroud. A boy stares on from a grey world behind a painted curtain, transfixed but incapable of reacting to this strange adult world
